Ryan Scott Ottney grew up in New Boston, Ohio.
He graduated Glenwood High School in 1996, and later graduated from Shawnee State University, in Portsmouth, Ohio, with a BA in English (concentration in communications and minor in journalism).
He has written professionally for news media such as The Portsmouth Daily Times, the Associated Press, and the Huntington Herald Dispatch; and for comic book publishers such as Marvel Comics, Alias Comics, BlueWater Productions, and Digital Webbing Press. He also has worked in communications and public relations. He is currently writing a new novel, and he would like to go back to school soon to complete his Graduate Degree in Political Science.
In 2004, Ryan’s first published series, “The Legend of Isis” — by BlueWater Comics — was optioned for film by Paramount Studios.
In 2006, Ryan’s comic book writing Web site, Scryptic Studios, was named to Writer’s Digest Magazine’s list of “101 Best Web Sites for Writers”.
Ryan still lives in New Boston, with his wife, Katie, and their son, Chase.
